This month I became the new chairman of Cwm Ogwr Running Club. I'm honoured to be chairman of the club and hope we can go from strength to strength encouraging new members from the local valleys whilst improving the ones we already have and keep them motivated and coming back for more. Former Chairman, Councillor David Owen, has stepped down to become Treasurer whilst Aled Hughes remained Secretary.
The second Couch to 5K program is nearly complete with several of it participants ready to run the Race the Life in Bridgend on June 1st. Well done girls. There'll be a break from Couch to 5K during the summer months but watch this space for another program starting the Autumn. If your keen to start running before then, please feel free to contact the club and we'll help as much as possible to get started and maybe join the 6pm sessions.
This month seen several new faces at the 6pm sessions and a new affiliated member to the running club with Richard James joining from Liswerry. He becomes our first member to have completed over 100 parkruns having been a regular at Newport parkrun for the past 2 and half years and is a bit of a parkrun tourist having run at 10 different parkruns. He also became the first Cwm Ogwr Runner to complete a parkrun with a buggy!
I'll be back soon with the May Review Part 2 will include the second Cwm Ogwr 5 miler, a grand slam of PB's achieved, and a ridiculous number of hilly runs and events.
